Canon EF 24-70 F2.8L

Affectionately known as "the brick" because of its weight and size, it has built up a healthy reputation due to its performance so I just had to get it :-)

I actually love the weight and feel of the lens on my gripped 50D. It feels solid and well built. The hood attaches to the lens main body instead of the front of the lens, like the 24-105 F4L IS. Therefore the lens zooms inside the hood. I like that!

I'll probably still keep the 24-105 F4L IS as my main walkabout lens due to the focal length.

I just had to go out and take some "test shots" as soon as it was delivered. So here they are.

Pre-wedding Shoot

On a cold February afternoon, I met up with my sister and her fiancée to recee the venue that they have booked for their wedding and also do a practice shoot. The idea was to expose them to doing a shoot and for me to get some ideas on location and posing.

The setting wasn't ideal due to the lack of greenery so a late springtime shoot is in order.

Bright light! Bright light! Do not feed these people after midnight!! :-)
